Complete every field before interpreting the result
The form reads account balance, account risk, entry price, stop price and direction. An empty numeric field produces a completion message rather than silently treating the missing value as zero. Finite-number checks also reject unsupported numerical values.
Use the labels to distinguish units: account balance is USD, risk is a percentage, and entry and stop are prices per asset unit. Putting a dollar risk budget into the percentage box changes the calculation; a plausible-looking output cannot establish that the intended input was entered.

A stop at entry is not a zero-risk solution
With entry at $100 and stop at $100, the denominator would be zero. The tool rejects that arrangement. It does not return an infinite position or interpret the identical prices as a guaranteed break-even exit.
Direction also matters. A long scenario needs a lower stop than entry; a short needs a higher one. The form retains numeric values when direction changes, so switching Long to Short with the same lower stop can produce an error until the stop is changed.

Classify the result before trying to fix it
The following cases use a fictional $10,000 account, 1% risk and $100 entry unless the row says otherwise. Every error is a validation result, not a judgment about the user or a suggested trade.
For the valid long stop of $95, the model returns a $100 budget, 20 units and $2,000 notional. A short stop of $105 has the same distance and output. The two directions do not share the same valid stop placement.
| Case | Expected behavior |
|---|---|
| Long stop $100 | Rejected: stop is not below entry |
| Long stop $105 | Rejected: wrong side of entry |
| Short stop $95 | Rejected: wrong side of entry |
| Long stop $0 | Rejected: price must be positive |
| Risk 0% | Rejected: below supported minimum |
| Long stop $95 | 20 units; $2,000 notional |
Know the supported bounds without treating them as advice
Current logic requires account balance of at least $0.01, risk from 0.01% through 100%, and positive entry/stop prices of at least 0.00000001. Its numerical upper limit is 1 trillion for balance and prices. Non-finite values are rejected.
Those are implementation limits, not suitable risk ranges or exchange constraints. Zero risk is rejected by this sizing model; that does not mean a person must take risk or enter a trade. Other calculators may use different validation for a different question.

A narrow valid distance can produce a large exposure
Using the same balance and 1% risk with a $99.50 long stop gives a $0.50 distance, 200 units and $20,000 notional. The tool displays an exposure warning because the notional is above the selected account balance.
That result is uncapped arithmetic. It does not grant credit, validate margin, round to an exchange lot size or place an order. Moving a stop merely to remove the warning changes an assumption; it does not resolve execution risk.

Check rounding and excluded costs separately
Displayed quantities use up to eight decimal places and money labels use currency formatting. Copying a rounded display can lose precision. A theoretical fractional quantity is not confirmation that a venue accepts that order.
The estimate omits fees, slippage, borrowing, funding and liquidation, and a stop is not an execution guarantee. If a result appears inconsistent, preserve fictional inputs and the exact message when reporting it. Do not send account screenshots, credentials or private trade records.
