Match the question before matching the rate
For this review, the reader’s task is understanding how to compare ordinary spot execution costs. Derivatives, borrowing, custody services and payment-method fees are outside the numerical example. They may still matter in an actual product review.
The official references below cover Coinbase Advanced and Kraken product fee schedules. The fee tool also contains a Coinbase Exchange preset, which is a different product. Do not substitute that preset for an account-specific Advanced rate.
Record what the documentation establishes
Coinbase Advanced directs readers to account-specific rates and notes separate schedules for some pairs. The Kraken reference distinguishes product schedules. Neither fact supplies a universal price for every reader.
No private account rate, signed-in eligibility or actual execution was inspected. Unverified fields stay unverified. Document review establishes what a provider publishes; it does not independently prove total cost, liquidity or service quality.

Evidence: Coinbase Advanced fees · Kraken product fee schedules
Normalize an explicitly hypothetical example
Take one $1,000 execution and manually enter two assumed rates, 0.2% and 0.4%. Fees are $2 and $4. The difference is $2 for that execution under those assumptions, excluding all other charges.
These rates have no assigned provider. They do not update automatically or establish the rates in the documentation. This separation prevents an illustrative number from becoming an accidental product claim.
Check the two-leg assumption
In the fee comparator, a round trip applies the selected rate twice to the same notional. On $1,000 at 0.2%, that is $4 total; at 0.4%, it is $8. A sale after a price change generally has a different notional.
Use the P&L calculator if you want to model separate entry and exit prices with one rate per side. If entry and exit rates differ, neither simplified interface fully captures that arrangement; compute and document the legs separately.
Keep the missing costs next to the result
Spread, slippage, conversion, funding, withdrawal and network charges are not included in this comparison. Product availability and terms can vary. A lower assumed trading percentage does not establish a lower deposit-to-withdrawal cost.
Do not rank platforms by the illustrative totals. If you cannot match scope, say that the figures are not comparable. Never recommend increasing volume or account balances just to qualify for a different tier.
Make the comparison reproducible
Record the source URL, product label, retrieval date, chosen tier and excluded costs. For an account-specific input, retain the private evidence securely without publishing credentials or account details. Date every public documentation claim.
Before any publication, an editor should recheck official references and mark remaining eligibility or fee gaps. Subsequent changes should produce a dated correction or update note rather than silently replacing old numbers.
